Please contact me here if you would like to arrange a class for a club or small group. Many of the classes below require little or no prior experience or specialist equipment.
LANDSCAPE IMPRESSIONS
MACHINE STITCH
This class will teach you the techniques you need to create stylized landscapes starting from a photo of a view that inspires you.
In the morning we will look at colour, composition and shape and start to build up the base for the picture using fabric paints and collage. In the afternoon we will stitch, layer and distress the piece.
You should go home with a small piece ready for mounting/framing and the knowledge to create your own landscapes on any scale.
STITCH, SLASH & TWIST
MACHINE STITCH
You will be playing with stitch and slash techniques to create textural fabrics. Starting with machine stitch and finishing with a combination of machine and hand techniques. The fabrics you create can be used as a base for further stitch.
MONOPRINTING ON FABRIC
PRINTING WITHOUT A PRESS
Create unique printed fabrics using a variety of drawing, stamping, stencilling and masking techniques on glass and gelatine plates.
FUNKY 3D FELT
WET FELT MAKING
Experiment with 3D felt making including hollow forms, spikes, bubbles and bumps! This workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who have made felt before and want to try 3D techniques. Other felt making classes are available.
SIMPLE PRINTS FOR CARDS OR STITCH
PRINTING WITHOUT A PRESS
Learn to make simple but effective print blocks using readily available and cheap materials. The blocks are suitable for printing on paper or fabric and you will have an opportunity to try printing on both. You will go away with a number of print blocks, some prints and lots of ideas for how to use them. This class can be adapted to a seasonal class, eg Christmas Cards.
PICTURES IN STITCH
HAND STITCH (+MACHINE STITCH)
Translate simple drawings into pictures with applique and hand stitch - suitable for complete beginners and accompanied children (8yrs+)
